Behavioral Health
Southwest Regional Medical Center provides 26 behavioral health beds to serve the needs of our community. The unit was recently expanded on the fourth floor of the hospital.
Physicians, nurses, family members, clergy, nursing and assisted living homes, social workers, law enforcement or others concerned about the mental health of individuals 18 years or older may make referrals to the program. Individuals may also seek services on their own.
All patients are assessed by licensed psychiatrist, Dr. R.K. Mehta, medical director of the program. Dr. Mehta is board certified in psychiatry and geriatric psychiatry.
All patients admitted to the inpatient program receive 24-hour day supervision in a therapeutic environment. Components of treatment include psychotherapy, problem solving group activities and life skills classes.
For those needing a less restrictive treatment option, the Structured Outpatient Program is available for referals. These patients receive an individualized treatment plan which focuses on decreasing symptoms and increasing the patient's level of functioning. This plan is acheived through a group model that provides education, connection and support. Services offered are:
- Individual and Family Therapy - Group Psychotherapy - Physical/Occupational/Speech Therapy - Medication Management - Psychiatric and Medical Evaluation - Memory Impairment Assessment - Psychological Testing - Clinical Social Work Assessment - Recreational Therapy - Discharge Planning
